Description

The Assassin Snail (Anentome helena), also known as the Snail-Eating Snail, is a favorite among aquarists dealing with unwanted pest snail outbreaks. True to its name, this snail actively hunts and preys on other snails, making it one of the most effective natural solutions for controlling overpopulated tanks — all while being completely harmless to fish, shrimp, and plants.

Easily recognized by its striking yellow shell with bold chocolate-brown spiral stripes, the Assassin Snail adds visual interest to any aquarium while quietly working as a cleanup crew member. It spends much of its time buried in the substrate, emerging to hunt or scavenge leftover food and detritus, which also helps keep the tank bottom cleaner.

Growing to about 1 inch (2.5 cm), Assassin Snails are low-maintenance and tolerate a wide range of water conditions, making them suitable for both beginners and experienced hobbyists.
