Product Description

The Apple Snail is one of the most popular freshwater snails in the aquarium hobby, prized for its large size and vibrant shell colors ranging from golden yellow and deep blue to purple, ivory, and pink. Named for its round, apple-like shape, this snail can grow significantly larger than most other aquarium snails, making it a striking centerpiece in community tanks.

Apple Snails are active grazers that help keep tanks clean by feeding on algae, leftover food, and soft biofilm. They are hardy and adaptable, tolerating a range of water conditions, which makes them a great choice for both beginner and experienced aquarists. Unlike some snail species, Apple Snails are omnivorous and will also happily eat live plants, so tanks with delicate aquascaping should be planted with hardier species or supplemented with extra vegetables to keep the snail satisfied.

A unique trait of the Apple Snail is its siphon tube, which allows it to breathe air at the surface, and its habit of laying bright pink egg clutches above the waterline — a distinctive sight for anyone keeping a breeding pair.

Features:

Bold, Vibrant Colors: Available in gold, blue, purple, ivory, and pink shell variations. Large Size: Grows up to 2–3 inches, occasionally larger with good care. Natural Cleaner: Grazes on algae, biofilm, and leftover food. Hardy & Adaptable: Tolerates a wide range of water parameters. Air-Breathing: Uses a siphon to breathe air at the surface, in addition to gills.

Care Instructions:

Tank Size: Minimum 5 gallons per snail; allow extra space as they grow large. Water Conditions: Temperature 22–28°C (72–82°F), pH 6.5–8.0. Diet: Algae wafers, blanched vegetables (zucchini, cucumber, spinach), and occasional calcium supplements for shell strength. Tank Setup: A secure, tight-fitting lid is recommended, as Apple Snails can climb out of open tanks. Avoid copper-based medications, which are toxic to snails. Plant Compatibility: May eat soft or delicate live plants; pair with hardy species like Anubias or Java Fern. Breeding: Lays pink egg clutches above the waterline; remove clutches if you want to control population.

Each Apple Snail is healthy, active, and carefully packed for safe delivery.
